Q. How long will it take to fill out an assessment?
-- On average, fifteen minutes.
Q. Can an assessment be stopped once it has begun?
-- If the assessment is management-initiated by a boss/manager,
a number of alterations are available on request. There is no way
to stop a worker-initiated assessment session that is begun by an
employee. Once the assessment has begun it will continue until the
time limit designated by the person who set it in motion.
Q. How do I join an assessment someone else started?
-- Just type in your boss's email where prompted. If there's an
assessment session currently running on your boss, you'll be added
to it automatically. If the session has closed, you'll be given
a chance to open a new assessment. However, you must make sure to
type the email address exactly as it was typed by the person who
initially opened the assessment.
Q. How do I make sure my colleagues get in on
the assessment I started without having to start their own?
-- Assuming they join the assessment before the expiration of the
originally designated time limit, as soon as they visit the site
and type in your boss's email address, they will be added to the
existing assessment session. One caveat: your co-workers must type
the email address exactly as it was typed by the person who began
the assessment!
Q. If I am joining an assessment I didn't initiate,
can I still invite people to join?
-- Yes. You can always invite people to join an assessment you are
working on.
Q. I got an invitation to assess my boss/company--how
do I know whether my cubicle mate received one as well?
-- There's no way to tell whether your co-worker was invited, unless
you sent the invitation!
Q. How do I avoid inviting a co-worker to join
the assessment who has already been previously invited by the person
who started this assessment?
-- You can't. Because of our absolute privacy policy, there is no
way for you to know whether s/he has been invited yet. But take
heart, the worst you can do is invite him or her an extra time.
Q. Is there a limit on how many people I can invite
to join my assessment?
-- Currently the limit is set to 50 invitations. If you would like
to invite more, please contact
us.
Q. How long does an assessment stay open?
-- Your assessment can stay open for the time it takes you to finish
the survey, or you can set the time to three, seven, or fourteen
days. If you did not begin the assessment but were invited to join,
you cannot set or change the time limit.
Q. Can you change the end-date for an assessment
that's already begun?
-- A management-initiated assessment's end-date can be altered by
the person who initiated it. Because of the anonymity of a worker-initiated
assessment, it belongs equally to all of the employees who participated
in it, and cannot be altered in any way.
Q. Can I assess my office mate?
-- At this time we have not developed an assessment suited to co-worker
evaluations. Keep an eye on us for future additions.
Q. Who should I send the assessment to when I
assess my company?
-- We recommend you go straight to your CEO, but HR professionals
or senior managers are acceptable alternatives.
Q. What do I do if I don't know the answer to
a question in an assessment, or feel the question doesn't apply
to me?
-- In our Improve Your Boss assessment, you may pick the "I" option
("I" stands for incomplete). In the Improve Your Company assessment
we don't have an "I" choice, but we're working on putting one in
there. For now, answer the question as best you can, and keep your
eye out for the release of our updated assessments!
Q. I took one of your assessments, but it didn't
cover some questions I wish it had asked--can you expand your questionnaire?
-- Send us your questions! We have a feedback
form.
Q. Is there an Improve Yourself assessment to
help me improve my performance in my existing workplace?
-- We are currently testing a number of assessments for use in personal
improvement efforts.
Q. Can I add my comments to an assessment?
-- We considered this feature but decided not to implement an open
comments field because it could serve as a vehicle for abusive or
obscene language. We may yet change our minds, though.
Q. Is this assessment going to hurt my boss's
feelings?
-- We offer assessments as a service to help your boss improve.
In order for positive change to occur in your workplace, it is essential
that your boss know where s/he can improve. The assessments are
not insults, but tools. In keeping with this attitude, we use positive
phrasing when delivering assessment results. The results your boss
receives will be accompanied by a customized list of resources s/he
can use to implement what s/he learns from the assessment.
